E-Teaching Portfolio

New technologies allow students to construct their own knowledge and develop their cognitive, communicative and social skills, which are essential competences for the job market of today, and as teachers it allow us to adapt our content to specific situations or cultural contexts, besides maximizing our effectiveness in communicating concepts clearly, to encourage our students to construct engaging projects based on their previous learning, and their use of the TIC.

My teaching philosophy Nowadays is a fact that the Education has changed both the way of teaching as well the way of learning, today the schools have more interesting in, how can students learn? how the curriculum can improve the standards and try to better the teaching? taking into account many aspects that let improve the skills both students and teachers. According with the article   "21st Century Skills for Students and Teachers " and my teaching philosophy, to meet this challenge schools must be transformed in ways that will enable students to acquire the creative thinking, flexible problem solving, collaboration and innovative skills they will need to be successful in work and life. For it the teaching sould be address to the formation of integral learners. My beliefs about my teaching:  I consider that I am a not a traditional teacher, I think that the current teaching-learning has changed, hence teacher has changed too, I believe I am a creative teacher with

I have learned about how prepare activities and design tools for virtual environments, since the experience is different that When you have real environment I think that teaching in virtual environments is hard since you need to have attractive tools   that Encourage them, in this way, the material that you use depends on if your class being successful.

Lesson plan 1   Past tense (12th October)   I liked it because students enjoyed to remember their childhood, The class was didactic and useful, we learn on a new expression for talking about past and they used it in a correct way, the goal of the lesson was achieving…. Lesson plan 2   “ Future with going to and will”   31 st October I had a good day with this group, though they have different levels they try to help each other… They did a good exercise with camping trip they worked together and they were able to speak on future plans…

“Part of speech” 1 st November This lesson plan was difficult because I found the explanation confused, I had explained it before but in real enviroments but virtual was hard… I think that students had doubts. In some moments of the meeting I did not know the answer. "Modal verbs" This lesson was large because there are different modal verbs with different use but in the same way with the same goal, for this reason this topic also was hard to explain because sometime all modal verbs can be using and I did have the clear definition about some modal verbs, for example might and may the meaning is the same but there are rules that say us what is the correct… small details that in some   moments I could explain because I did not have the correct words for explain the situation.

Link:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Te8LYZN6jgo I think that I had difficulties in explaining the activities with accuracy, also I am not a friendly person I am not talking a lot. Sometimes students told me that they didn´t understand the activity ,in those moments I realized that I was not clear and I need to prepare better my explanations… another point was my English level… in Spanish I am very shy and in English too sometimes I made some mistakes and my voice looked nervous… I believe that I need prepare better the explanations on activities, I need to be clearer… Also I need to do feedback and provide spaces where they can interact with each other. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD7fWG_WoBQ The activities were successful, the material used was good design in order to achieve the goal proposed… “ Plan a weekend camping trip” was a good exercise for students because they worked together moreover, they were practicing on writing, speaking and reading skill

I have a anecdotal record, that day I did my session in my sister´s house,  my niece got up early, she always sang or made strange sounds that were funny for me and for students… and other was When my sister said aloud  “you plugged the bathroom”  this was too funny but I put my microphone in silent and my face put red… the students laughed   😀

On the side of the teacher, it´s important to demand products at the level of the students and don´t force them to give more than they can. It would be negative because the students may feel we are too demanding and they can be discouraged in the learning process. To do so, there are certain activities like Role Plays, Scavenger Hunts, Field Trips, Re-enactments Scripts and many more to practice and create interaction that generates much more vocabulary easy to be identified and used in future ocassions. Finally, there´s also a space for a short reflection related to it where I gave my point of view according to the material I read to make the presentation and in which I stated that teachers are the responsible ones for the good performance of the students and also that he is in charge to give what it takes to carry on with a successful process.
